Am I doing to right excercises?
I’m 18, last time I checked my weight I was 220! that was in the summer time. I started to gain weight at about 14. Its been a long time but i’m ready to get in shape. I’ve been going to the gym in my apartments atleast 5 days out the week for two weeks (i go every chance i get). I go to the gym from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, I do 30 mintues on a machine where its kinda like youre skiing with the setting on either "fat burn" or "cardio" (i dont know whats the difference) I do 15 minutes on the exercise bike (high resistants) and I do 15 minutes on a treadmill only allowing myself to power walk (lowest 3.0) or run, to finish off my workout I lift free weights (from 5pounds to 10) and then I use this weight machine, i bench press 20 pounds and on another machine I pull 40 pounds, im not really sure what im doing, i dont want to get buff lol, i just wanna tighten my arms, i’ve noticed results in my legs, their stronger and more toned, my arms arm stronger but im not sure if I lost weight
I’m not eating fast food right now, but I’m not sure what kind of meals I should eat, what kind of foods should I be eating?

Hey girl your doing good but you can do better! First of all try doing cardio non stop by picking your favorite cardio machine like the tread mill for at least 45 mins straight and watch your distance accomplished because thats how you know if your making progress in your walking. Number two in order to tone an not get buff continue to lift weight but do not lift more than lets say 40 pounds and stay on consistent with the weight but try to lengthing your reps per set. for instance when I go to the gym I lift 60 pounds and do twenty reps in four sets. so I lift 60 pounds five times rest then repeat three more times. When you feel soar the next day that is your muscles riping and growing. this is good either way (toning or bulking) but the difference is your eating habits and cardio. If i were you I would go for the gusto and walk or jog (carido) for one hour every other day. Then I would do sit ups every night and morning may be 100 to 200 (depending apon your determination) but your stomach is made of transitional muscle and it is able to be work every day with out causing harm every other muscle should be worked every other day. Then when walking instead of lifting weights just work your arms and that will be enough to help you not get bulky. Aerobics is great in the morning for toning check out your fittness channel. Also drink water !!!!!!!!!!!! Its your only friend when trying to lose weight!!!!!! Dont eat after 6pm. and watch your portions. So far your doing great just organize it and make sure your not eating more than your working off. Im working off baby fat right now so I understand where your coming from. IN Conclusion Cardio for 45 mins to and Hour! Water all day for a speedy metabolism! and Aerobics or palates for your arms and stomach (Fitness Channel)! Good Luck!
P.S. Dont eat any thing fried, stay away from breads and sweets and soda only drink water. I eat once a day but its not healthy that way but you need a stravation period so dont eat after 6pm because your metabolism slow down at night. Eat salad, fruits, granola bars, oatmeal (fiber foods) protein foods Chicken and turkey if you eat bread only 100% wheat. Also take your vitamins. dieting is hard on your body. You should be fine.
i think you are doing great. try the machines that you feel the most work out in your problem areas and if you feel the work out there continue doing those ones.
You should be losing weight, at least a pound or two a week if you are also managing what you eat. If you aren’t careful on the diet then you have likely lost some fat (for all that hard work, way to go!) And the new muscle mass weighs more (by volume) then fat to offset the loss.
You should check out the magazines online/stores for good routines. And don’t forget, intensity plays a very important role in achieving results.
Congrats on stepping up!
Congratulations on sticking to the 5 days a week for 2 weeks. You show determination and need a real plan. Hours and hours in a gym does not always make results. With a plan you can spend less time and get WOW results. I suggest you try Body for Life by Bill Phillips (www.bodyforlife.com). This plan is NOT a DIET it is a plan you do for the rest of your life and is how you should have been eating and working out in the past. It is not hard and you do not starve at all. You should have a committed workout partner who keeps you committed when you want to stray. You can also try P90X at http://www.p90x.com. More $ than the body for life book but a solid plan you can work on. Biking at high resistance will not gain results that a whole body plan will provide you. I understand you want to tighten your arms but open your mind and consider the importance of heart health and total body fitness. You have a goal, which is good, but you can do better. Aim higher, you can do it!
