What to wear in Michigan?
I’m from California, and I’ll be attending college in Michigan this coming fall.
I have no clue what the weather tends to be like in Michigan, other than that it actually snows in the winter (something totally foreign to me). I also don’t know how to dress for whatever weather there will be in Michigan on a regular basis. I don’t know if it tends to rain, or if it’s actually fairly sunny and warm most of the time, or if it’ll just be sunny but cold (50 degrees being cold) most of the time.
Also, regarding what to wear: I know what to wear for a daytrip skiing in Lake Tahoe here in CA, but not what to wear on a regular schoolday in MI where the ground is covered in snow and ice– snow pants would seem a little extreme for that.
So: what is fall weather like in lower Michigan? Winter? Spring? And how should I dress for each season?
Lots of details would be nice!

I’m from michigan, always have been. Here is TOTALLY unpredictable I’m sorry to say, lol but here are the basics;
WINTER; The winters can be pretty harsh. blistering winds can make it go below zero, and it can sure snow. I’d bring a really warm winter coat, like one of those puffy north face ones, hat, gloves scarf, and uggs. I wouldn’t wear snow pants around, but bring a lot of pants, like jeans, sweats, etc. Ur in for a fun time, lol!
Spring; Spring is probably one of the most unpredictable seasons here. It can be 40 cold and rainy, or 80 and really hot. I’d have A a lot of sweaters and hoodies, jeans, capris, and some shorts.
Fall: Fall in michigan is usually beautiful. 60s usually late september through october , steadily getting colder towards november and december. have jeans, a light jacket, and sweaters .
Summer: Summer can be really hot. It was 97 today. Bring some of your california summer gear (sandals, shorts, etc) and you’ll be good

Winter there is like canadian winters but in the summer its good weather there
i live in michigan, and you seriously need to have all ranges of clothing. it could be hailing one day and 99 degrees the next, its craaazy
Winter is freezing to cold, like it can get below 0 sometimes, especially by the lakes. Summer is really nice, lows of 70’s and highs in the 90’s. As for what to wear, yes it is definitely extreme to wear snow pants in winter. I just wear jeans, but on really cold days, try cotton tights underneath pants. Spring and fall are nice, 50’s and 60’s. Of course there will be strange days on occasion, but just be prepared with a sweater.
Michigan weather is very unpredictable. Most winters are VERY cold, but usually sunny. Spring gets started pretty late, but there are a lot of nice days. In fall its kind of cool out but there are also a lot of nice days. During summer the past couple years it has not gotten warm right away, but when it does start to heat up it gets really hot out.
In the winter it snows, or gets pretty cold. Springs normally pretty wet and in the 50’s, but each day can be totally different from each other. Fall is sorta like the spring but dryer. The summer is really warm and normally in the 80’s. In the winter you would need a winter coat, sometimes boots, long pants (obviously), and long sleeve shirts. Since your going to be living there your going to need gloves and hats too if you plan on being outside at all. In the spring and fall you might need a light coat or sweatshirt, and long pants. In the summer you can wear shorts and t-shirts. The weather changes a lot from day to day to you need a lot of options.

Regular outfit for…
Summer:
Women- shorts and a tank top
Men- shorts and a t shirt
Fall:
Women- Long pants (yogas, jeans) or capris
Men- Long pants (sweats, jeans)
Spring:
Women- capris/bermudas (MAYBE shorts), (MAYBE pants)
Men- pants, MAYBE shorts
WInter:
Women- pants, long sleeves or sweatshirt, jacket/coat, appropriate shoes for snow weather, socks.
Men- SAME AS WOMEN
…Alright well Michigan can have pretty crazy weather.
Fall is pretty similar to spring but a little more chilly and as for WInter here, winter is winter. LOTS OF SNOW!!
Lets start off with summer since thats our current season.
Summers here can be really hot or just warm. Example: yesterday was 91 degrees fahrenheit but with humidity (which can be extreme) it went up to 105. Average summer day is probably sunny, and around…85-90. There tends to be more rain/thunderstorms around the beginning of summer,Spring is a sneaky season because weather varies from warm to chilly. There is a ton of rain in spring. As they say, april showers bring may flowers
