How soon can I start on pointe if I start ballet at 15 ?
I just love ballet and I will start in a week ballet lesson . (When I was younger I did aerobics , tennis , swimming and ski ) Now I wonder how soon can I start on pointe ? I’m very motivated and I do different exercises 2 hours per day ( stretching . . . ) and I almost learned the first and the second possition of ballet .

I will not (directly) contradict the lifelong ballerinas’ experiences. Yes, if you start ballet at 3, you obviously won’t be going en pointe after 2 years. However, there is a HUGE developmental difference between a still-growing 5 year old and an athletic 15 year old.
My instructor started ballet for the first time 3 years ago(she was 18 at the time) and she is currently starting pointe.
So don’t give up hope!
It won’t take 7-10 years, but it will take at least 2, and a lot of work.
Good luck and happy dancing!
since you’re just starting ballet, you’re gonna have to wait probably about two years. it may seem like a long time, but if you’re really serious about it, keep doing extra exercises, and ask your ballet teacher to evaluate your turn out, metatarsal strength(he/she may have you rise up on the tips of your toes without shoes on), arches, all that good stuff.
pointe is a completely different type of dance. it requires a lot more strength and if your dance on pointe incorrectly, you can seriously injure your ankles, feet, hips, or toes. you can always see if your studio offers a pre-pointe class. that can help you prepare very well for pointe.
best of luck!
do not even think about pointe. if this is the first time you’ve ever done ballet. if you’ve only almost learned 1st n 2nd you have 3 positions to go. if you’ve never danced then you have no turnout, which is one of the most important things. also, you need very strong feet and ankles before start pointe which is something you have to work up to. I’m a swimmer as well as a dancer and the muscles are totally different. i know i sound harsh and mean, but you won’t be on pointe for at least 3 or 4 years at a minimum. if you really love it them keep with it and you’ll get there eventually. good luck!!
JUST 1st and 2nd POSITIOn?!?!?!? THERES 5 FOR JUST FEET AND AT LEAST 50 FOR ARMS AND LEGS!!!! At out studio it takes at least 10 years (thats if you start ballet at 3) any later and its over 10 years or NEVER! If you want to get pointe you have to get to an advanced ballet level an take at least 3 classes per week. If you’re AMAZING at ballet you might be able to be on Pointe in 5 years???
