Am I fat? No not one of those picture ones…?
I’m 14 years old, 5"7.5 and I’m a girl. I’ve got an athletes build but I’m not like super muscley person, I’m above average with muscle but not insane. Anyway I don’t usually bother with weight I go with how I look and I know I’m not the skinniest person around, I’m kinda average, I have a stomach haha but that’s because of my wheat intolerance… that I don’t stick to haha, so when I have too much wheat my stomach swells… :’( but with looks I’m okay, I haven’t got fat arms or legs or anything so I don’t call myself fat but I saw a question today that a lad had asked if he was fat, he was 14, about 6foot and he weighed 10 stone, someone had commented that he should lose weight, I’m 11 stone. Does this make me fat?

P.S. I DO do exercise, I do two hours of skiing every saturday and one hour of fencing every wednesday, I’ve also done 4 years of karate, 2 years of tennis, 6 years or swimming and I do windsurfing and scuba diving =]

Well, I did a quick Google, and your BMI is 23.8 which is average (25.0 being the overweight). But, what this does not take into consideration is your muscle mass, as muscle is more dense than fat (and there for weighs more than fat) a lot of this weight could be muscle, so you shouldn’t freak out about being ‘fat’ you’re a healthy weight. Also, when a woman is menstruating their weight tends to be a few pounds higher than when they’re not menstruating - plus, a persons weight fluctuates throughout the day - both are factors which cannot be controlled - and therefore you shouldn’t worry about it. But, if you do want to lose excess fat, then you could begin toning workouts such as: yoga, pilates & swimming.
If your questioning whether or not your fat, your not fat. I’m a guy and I’m 14 and girl doesn’t have to be thin to be attractive. Just not really bulky.

11 stone would make you 154 lbs. for the benefit of the Americans who don’t know what a "stone" is.
It sounds to me as though you’re simply solidly average. You get plenty of exercise, and if you feel comfortable and healthy, then you’re at a good personal weight.
140 lbs. is too thin for a 6′ man. My husband was 6′ and 155 when I met him, and I thought HE was too thin.
I bet you weigh that much because of muscle. You can weight a lot because of muscle and still be healthy and look thin.
You’re asking the wrong question. How can anyone tell you whether or not you’re fat without looking at you? You’re not classed as overweight, if that’s what you’re asking, but you are near. I’m not being rude, I’m just going off the Body Mass Index (BMI) system.
There are a few reasons why you might be at the higher end of the ‘normal weight’ catergory. It could be because you’ve built up some muscle. It could also be because you’re going through puberty, and therefore your body grows in some ways faster than others, and this causes the scale to give unreliable readings.
It’s all moot, however, as you aren’t classed as being over or underweight. Just thought you should know these things.
