Need help water skiing after 25 years?
I used to be good on a slalom ski as a teen. I just started skiing again last year after nearly 25 years, I’m 42 now. I was able to get up on two skis on about the 4th or 5th time I tried, but am having trouble on a slalom. I’ve dropped a ski a few times and stayed up, but can’t do a deep water start for some reason. The rope gets pulled out of my hands every time before I can get up all the way. Are there any hand exercises I can do? Or any other tips, because dropping one isn’t always an option in the local lakes.

Rowing machine, lunges, curls, gotta weight train and exercise to get back in shape.
Also, the new wider, more forgiving water skis will help.
It may be your boat driver. you don’t need a super grip to hold on. your driver should be finessing you out of the water not jerking you out. think back to how it felt then. try to mimick the actions you remember. Its like riding a bike only you don’t put cards in the spokes.
Ask the driver to start out slower, the same thing was happening to me with the wakeboard.
Don’t give up - you still got it!!!
